wokel

noun
/ˈwəʊ̯kəl/UK/ˈwəwkəl/

Etymology

Blend of woke + yokel.

Definitions

  1. Somebody who speaks for progressive (“woke”) values in spite of missing education.

    • By analogy with yokels, the ignorance and naivety of woke fascists makes them “wokels”. Then why are so many academics woke? Surely, they must be the opposite of wokels.
    • On the other hand, I can already hear critics bellowing that giving men free booze promotes patriarchy rather than subverts it. Such a program would be a tough sell to the local wokels.
