    • A very hard, vitreouslike substance, composed of hexagonal prisms, with a common direction at right angles to the dentoenamel junction or line marking the union of the enamel and dentin.
    • However, if the hydroxide was allowed to dry at room temperature, it was reduced to approximately one-third of its original solid volume, forming a very hard, vitreouslike material.
