spimmer
nounEtymology
Definitions
One who sends spim (unsolicited instant messages).
- Spam in e-mail isn't new. But as barriers to it have succeeded, spimmers have taken fresh aim at IM.
- Most forecasters are predicting that spim will spin out of control as soon as spimmers find a way to abscond with large numbers of IM screen names, which are not as readily available as e-mail addresses.
- Another threat to the use of IM is a phenomenon known as spimming. Spimming is to IM as spam is to e-mail. Some aggressive spimmers learned how to take over one IMer's contact list — threatening a company's entire IM system!
