    To socialize inappropriately; to treat in a manner that encourages socially inappropriate behavior.

    • Corrupting refers to things that parents do that "missocialize" the child in some way by encouraging and reinforcing more antisocial or deviant patterns of behavior.
    • A parent could maltreat a child through neglect by simply failing to provide age-appropriate experiences, or could deliberately missocialize the child by teaching the child to behave in ways that are inappropriate.
